Personal Tool Inventory
Protect Your Tools.
Why Your Personal Tool Inventory Matters.
We get it—the Collective Agreement is a hefty read. But it’s worth the because it includes important details and protections for members.
Once such protection is “Tools and Uniforms” Article 26:03 and 26:09, which apply to both the Residential (inside and outside GTA) and ICI Agreements.
These clauses state that if your tools are lost due to fire, flood or theft, your employer must replace them (26:09). However, without an updated, documented tool inventory (outlined in 26:03), your employer is only obligated to cover your tools up to a maximum value of $1,000.
Check out your Collective Agreement (pages 38-40) for full details.
Your personal tool inventory list must be updated annually.
Both you and your employer must sign your personal tool inventory list every time it is updated.
Your personal tool inventory list must be itemized and fully priced by item.
It is the responsibility of the employee to keep this list up to date (minimum yearly).
When this list has been reviewed and accepted by the employer as to items and value, the employer accepts liability for replacements.
In the event that your personal tools are lost due to fire, flood, or theft, you must notify your employer immediately.
In the event of theft by forcible entry, the police and management must be notified immediately.
